First annual snowflake making contest

during our family christmas celebration, we had what i think should be our first annual snowflake making contest.  ten minutes to make an elaborately beautiful piece in three rounds.  these were our favorites.

christmas in the south

a snow spanish moss-covered christmas.  and how wonderful it has been.

the body

when i had back problems this summer, i was recommended to PT360.  the holistic physical therapy practice had recently opened and i knew it would be pricey, especially without health insurance, but i looked into it anyways.  they were more than kind and helpful and healing.  here are some of the photographs i took as a part of my payment for their help.

hanging ice

i-ci-cle -(noun): a pendent, tapering mass of ice formed by the freezing of dripping water.

whenever wyatt (the 5 year old in my life) sees other houses with big icicles, he defiantly proclaims “that’s not fair!”  he forgets that he has them too.

smoking inside

i took this while i was living in oakland, but as i looked at my friedlander book this weekend, i found an image that reminded me of this.  lee friedlander is one of my all time favorite photographers.  i got to witness his work first hand at the sfmoma and my heart leapt with joy and recognition as i meandered through his photographs.  i had never witnessed someone who sees the way i see.  obviously he is incredibly talented and experienced beyond me, but how refreshing to know that im not the only one who finds strange and randomly simple things fascinating.
