AIGA indy

i was invited to photograph the aiga indy membership event by joshua cook, the wonderful designer of my new logo.  i had a great time hanging out with designers, artists, and all around cool indianapolis people for an evening.  throw in the west coast taco truck, a squared industries deejays, and gigi’s cupcakes… great time!

artprized

it’s that time of year again, artprize.  the biggest art competition in the world, and it’s in grand rapids.  i just happened to be in town to catch a glimpse of some of the art.

the plan b exhibit was my favorite, though i am extremely bias.  i love the ideas that this lovely group of people are presenting: “an out door installation that will simulate a post peak oil world where electricity is only intermittent and almost everything used to keep daily life humming along has been made out of preexisting products and materials. A combination of very old technologies with what can be patched together out of the rubble of what has been made before, fallen apart and left behind. The current world of high speed internet and smart phones is all an ongoing modern miracle that all works so well but the nagging question is if and when it comes down what is our plan B. Our Art Prize entry will be an artistic attempt to answer this question.”  not only were their concerts powered by bikes (well, people on bikes creating energy stored in car batteries) but check out their tents… made from old mc donald’s billboards.  :)  the irony.

and it wouldn’t be a complete trip home if i didn’t get to see the soil and the sun play.  (i am completely aware of the fact that i’ve posted photographs of them playing numerous times… they are my favorite.)

Best breakfast sandwich. Ever.

once upon a time i made the best breakfast sandwich.  ever.

the binding bee

yesterday, i had the privilege of photographing the beautiful work of megan winn and the binding bee.  her handcrafted items are available on etsy and shops and shows scattered about the midwest.  she is a treasure, as are her journals.

and thus begins a new direction for my photographic adventures.  i have a new section on my blog labeled “etsy” for this new work.  if you are a handcrafter and need professional photos (they make all the difference!) to exhibit the unique beauty of your pieces, i’m your girl!
