dr. chappell

papa passed away yesterday morning.   he was a great man, full of character and great love for his family and friends.  in honor of him last night, i made dinner for my housemates.  we brought the table outside and i set it as he would have liked- with everything in it’s proper place.  he was particular about setting the table.  even when we just wanted a snack he would get out baskets to put the crackers in, plates and napkins, even the pickle fork for the pickles.  :)

i know it was his time, but i will miss him.

spring rain spinach

i may not have a lot of land, but i still get to step into the back yard, even amidst today’s light spring drizzle, to pick spinach for a dinner salad.  that counts for a lot.

signs of spring

onions from our garden!

and a day warm enough to hang the laundry out to dry.

being here

here i live in indianapolis.

it’s not the glamorous city i want, but i chose it.  there’s not even a decent public transit system or car share (something i plan on remedying).  but, i’m still here.  and now that it’s spring, living life here is much more pleasant.  it’s easy and enjoyable to bike amidst blooming trees and warming air.  twice this week i was fortunate enough to sit outside in the sun while eating lunch from a couple of great local joints.  this was my scenery.

and my cornet (fennel-avocado) sandwich from duos, a fantastic food truck that makes it’s way around the city throughout the week.  ”slow food fast” is their motto.  i love it!

i had another shoot with purauralem recently.  check out her new work on etsy!
