kid cousins

we’re spending a week on lake michigan for our heneveld family reunion.  the water is warm, the view stunning, and the kids fun, as always.

carnival times

i’m using my mid-summer lull to catch up on the photography that i’ve been doing just for fun…

i found a street side carnival earlier this summer and convinced christie to ride bikes with me to visit it.  we rode some ridiculous topsy-turvy ride that made us scream like crazy (i might have cried a little bit, too…).  we ate corn dogs (if you know me, you know how outlandish this is) and elephant ears.  we had a splendid time acting like kids again.

cakes of the pan

pancakes are one of my favorite things to eat.  especially this buckwheat version from readymade magazine.  especially buckwheat blueberry pancakes.

rustic summer tart

i made a tart inspired by strawberries, blueberries, gooseberries and rhubarb from the market.  this post, by this lovely lady ,who i want to be just like (she cooks, photographs, AND she’s french.  i may be jealous.), was part of the inspiration as well.  i was surprised at how easy and simply delicious they turned out!  the crust was simply fabulous- flakey and buttery.  try it!

kara loves carl

it’s incredibly refreshing to spend time with couples that are so comfortable with each other.  kara and carl seem to fit perfectly.  i can’t wait for their wedding in october!
