bocce in the park

last weekend teddy called me and told me to come a little park on the east side.  the italians were playing the slavs in a bocce tournament and he thought i’d want to see it.  not only do i love these kinds of unusual (well, unusual to me) gatherings , but men playing bocce in the park reminds me of france and i rarely pass up something france-like.

indiana state fair

i experienced a state fair for the first time this summer.  we went one evening and ate all sorts of deep fried foods, giant turkey legs, slushies, cotton candy, etc. etc.  it’s really quite disgusting when you think about it.  (and i don’t think it’s any coincidence that there are posters about the signs of a heart attack covering the picnic tables.)  but, it only happens once a year.  so we indulged.  thankfully, this rainy scene was my second visit to the fair.

a chicago jaunt

i got to see beth in chicago for about 24 hours this week.  this is a chronicle of the trip from start to finish on the bus, though lacking some major parts because i didn’t feel like carrying my camera around town.  :(  sometimes i just can’t do it all.  events shown- the view from the top and front seat of the megabus, intelligentsia coffee (a must for every chicago trip), repetition, a pie truck and my slice of blueberry apple pie, and finally the windfields on the ride home (note the reflection- one of my favorite things to watch on the bus).  events not shown- me and beth sneaking into wrigley field to see the last two innings of the cubs game, amazing vegetarian fare at the chicago diner, the long walk at midnight along lake michigan from boystown to our hostel downtown (we gave up and took the bus)…

Stephanie

while in colorado without the workshop filling our time, stephanie and i decided to make use of being with another photographer by doing a little shoot on the last morning.  we certainly missed the parsons and the amazing photography community that was absent, but it was still a lovely time!

and our ode to the workshop:
