parties

it’s not quite july and my summer has already been full of parties!

from steve’s sock hop…

to my 27th garden birthday party (yes, hats, bow ties and dresses were the encouraged attire. don’t you think we should dress like this everyday?)…

to french night with a view…

to backyard patio dinners (aka french night without a view)…

may the joy of sharing food with loved ones continue!

bees

i visited Hunter’s Bee Farm yesterday to scout for a project and it was fascinating to learn about bees and honey!  i’m inspired.

melissa and kelly

the wedding of a beautiful couple in a picturesque location on michigan’s coast simply could not be spoiled by the weather.  though the forecast was not promising, melissa and kelly remained unswayed.  sure enough, by the time it was time to travel to the church, the rain (which had cooled down the summer heat) stopped and the beautiful day began.

courage

to create is to claim goodness and light no matter how dark the world feels.

a wise woman once said that though it takes great courage to create in the midst of suffering, this is when it counts the most; when it’s needed the most.  it must be true because whenever times get rough, i go to my camera.  sometimes it doesn’t feel worth it.  but i’ve realized that even if i don’t create a masterpiece on this sad day, i’m choosing some thing more: hope.

happy summer!

today marks the first day of summer. may yours be full of lightness and growth!
